NOISE Recap (5 February) and Clinic Reminder

NOISE 5 February 2009 (9 of 17)

NOISE was pretty excellent this week. I had never heard Tammar before and I have to say I was quite impressed. Lots of build up and My Bloody Valentinesque fuzz. Impure Jazz and La Santa Muerta were good as well. Sorry nobody would come and stand in front of you Josh Morrow, apparently people don’t like to stand at Starbucks. Pictures are up on Flickr

Don’t forget to go to The Clinic tonight. I predict a riot. CLICK THESE WORDS AND GO TO THE SHOW

NOISE – Thursday, February 5

Here’s the deal. Every Thursday the group Live from Bloomington puts on free concerts at the Indiana Memorial Union. They are all free and most of the time the bands are excellent. They are aimed at students, but anybody and everybody can show up. This week is Impure Jazz, Tammar, La Santa Muerta. I have seen Impure Jazz a couple times and they do some good jams. Anyway, here’s the info from Facebook:

LA SANTA MUERTA

After making an appearance on local label Crossroads of America Records’ first compilation CD, this side project of husband&wife’s Will Rose and Tim Felton is finally ready to re-join the Btown live music circuit.

TAMMAR

This experimental indie band has been creating tunes that leave listeners mystified for a while now. Lots of amazing sounds and melodies. We hope you’re as excited as we are for their NOISE debut.

IMPURE JAZZ

Who needs lyrics when the music gets as intense as this band lets it? If you haven’t seen Impure Jazz yet, this is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to one of Bloomington’s most talked-about bands of ’08.

As always, this show is FREE and All-Ages, so ditch your homework, grab your friends, and get ready for a good nite of all-local music.”
